Research Expertise

Pavlos Andriopoulos has studied Biology and holds a MSc in Environment and Development and a PhD in Conservation Biology.

He works as a Lab Assistant at the Department of Ecology & Systematics of the Faculty of Biology in the University of Athens.

He has participated in several European and national research projects, which dealt with: the alien taxa in the Greek flora; the post fire regeneration of vegetation in Mediterranean ecosystems; the effects of post fire management practices (e.g. reforestation, log dams) on the structure and composition of vegetation.

He uses several software environments which concern Geographical Information Systems (ArcGIS), Ecological Models (SIMILE) and Habitat Suitability Models (BioMapper). His current work concerns the conservation of rare plants through the study of their life history and their suitable habitat at various spatial scales. Ornithology has recently been added to his research interests.
